DILEMMA

Hey ladies. I have a dilemma for my summer plans. I need help please read on...

So first of all, I got my contract for camp. SO EXCITED. All four
terms. AD. You know how much I love it there. I even wish I was there
right now! But there is a downside... which i'll get to in a second.

Next... When I went to El Paso during November Holly's family brought
up the idea of going to India with them for a couple weeks in late
feb/early march (i think). I thought that there would be no way in
hell that I could afford it, but since I've gotten back to work after
my trip I've been making some damn good money. So I might get to go!!
It would be a really cool volunteer opportunity for nursing school (it
is a medical mission ... holly's mom is a family practitioner, so we
would be giving out prescription drugs and shots??)... Anyway, we
would go for 2 weeks. We would fly into new delhi, travel down to
Hyderabad and then laterally east. spending time in each of those
places. The organization we would go with is called Charlie's Lunch
(basically a program to feed hungry kids). http://charlieslunch.com/
Anway... if you could be praying about that for me. Just want to make
sure that if i get the opportunity to go that i'll be prepared and
ready for something like that.

Which brings me to my 3rd point. We are about to start a restaurant
in another location which is much closer and more accommodating than
my current location. I've pretty much been secured a spot there
too... All my managers and executive chef like me. Also, they are
trying to promote me to what they call a "Lead Event Server" or
something to that effect. Not sure what it will all entail. But
basically we have this event room above our restaurant that a lot of
people like to rent out. When they do they need a server and that
server more times than not tends to be me. Well it's great money
(India money perhaps)... However, I"m afraid that all these work
opportunities may not allow a summer at camp. I haven't gotten to
talk to my manager's about it yet. It all happened ironically. I got
my contract and went to work with intention to talk to them about it
and that very day got talked to about how my new 'position' was going
to be presented at the manager meeting this week (which i think is
tomorrow). I want to work at camp... I know that if i stay here all
summer (no matter how much money i am making) it won't make up for
what I'm missing. I've already filled out my contract but can't send
it until i talk to my managers. I think the worst that could happen
would be that I would get to work at camp and would come back to a
server only position in the location i don't particularly like. The
best would be that they would give me all these things and let me work
at camp all summer and then come back to it. I don't know if either
of those are likely. They really love me at this place... I am just a
little distraught over this conflicting of opportunities. I'm not
ready to give up camp. I miss it right now... think how awful it would
be if i knew it was going on and i was stuck up here just working at a
restaurant.

it's monday!

Been working a lot up here, but it's been good.

Went to a ghostland observatory concert last saturday, the light show was amazing!

Running has not been going as well unfortunately. I'm not super determined and the ice cold rain at 7am is nothing short of inconvenient. However, I am going to El Paso soon and should be able to do some running on the good ol' ditches behind my house for a few days. Keep your fingers crossed. I just want to run the entire 1/2... doesn't have to be fast... just completed.

With that, I'm so excited to go to Texas and see my family (esp. my nieces and nephew).

Anyway, there is a little update. I've been especially homesick lately, this usually happens right before I go home. Perhaps it is the anticipation... who knows!

MONDAY, Monday, monday!

Hey ladies! Sorry it has been such a stretch since I have posted. I do hope you will check back every Monday and leave me little messages. Nothing can describe how much I miss my dear "dorm sisters" (and whomever else might read this).

With that being said, I generally have every Monday off, so with that I will try to make it a routine to update on this day!

What is going on with me right now:
nothing.

JUST KIDDING!!! Well I'm still here in Seattle but I am making it back to Texas 4 times between now and the middle of march. I hope to get to see each and every one of you even if it is just for a moment! I'll let you know when I'm coming to a city near you (have I turned into a major motion picture?).

As for me in November, it is looking to be a pretty great month. Holidays are coming, which means work will pick up quite a bit (and we are a hot soup restaurant which should be a-ok through those wintry shopping days). I am going home to El Paso in 2 weeks and then over to the Austin area to see my sister and her kids for a few days. I might try to squeeze a peek in at camp as well :)

Once I get back to the NW I am running a 1/2 marathon with my roommate Caitlin... We are hoping this might open the door to more races (or just activity.)

Those of you that remember Jordan Lawhead, he is going to be in town on Tuesday so I have recruited many people from my household to go to his show. It should be so fun to see him again!
